Description
A rare bumper beargrass bloom on the summit of Boulder Pass (7400 feet), located in Idaho and Montana’s Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. The view shows Boulder Creek canyon at dawn and after a night of rain. Sam Billings Memorial Campground in Montana is 11 miles east and down this canyon, while Paradise Guard Station in Idaho is 22 miles west of the pass.
Almost six years later, I would spend another night on this pass, but under very different circumstances, with Boulder Pass buried beneath 10 to 25 feet of snowpack.
