Description
A winter storm exits northeastern Glacier National Park, Montana. On the icy surface of Glenns Lake was an unrestricted view of Mount Kitt, Pyramid, Cathedral, and part of Stoney Indian Peaks.
Unbeknownst to me in 25 hours I would break through the ice on Belly River. Then 35 hours later, I would almost succumb at my final camp to an intense Arctic cold, which was just entering the area, seen in this photo pushing the storm off the peaks (36 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, recorded at the Many Glacier’s SNOTEL site 15 miles south).
This was Day-five of a nine-day scouting trip for an eventual winter crossing of the park in this area.
